Van Gogh Sunflowers Paintings Reviews and Analysis

Vincent Van Gogh is among the most widely known and remembered ancient painters of all time. Van Gogh begun his career in Netherlands after which he moved to Paris France. He had a short painting career of nine years, but his unique sunflowers have lived on his legendary up to date. Of the many drawings he did, the Van Gogh Sunflowers series are the most known. They display a set sunflower, either in a vase or on the ground. He was even quoted to saying that sunflowers were his in a way. Currently, many art exhibitions will be incomplete without a piece or two of these paintings. The reproductions have also been used in various art galleries to remember the good work he did to the sunflower.

Unknown to many, Van Gogh sunflowers are more than the two that most people know. These are The Vase with Twelve Sunflowers and The Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers.
The paintings were done on canvas to decorate his house in readiness to welcome his friend Paul Gaugun. He also hoped that other painters would join him in making a union of utopians. His friend ended up buying two of these pieces in seeing the magical power of art Vincent had. Some of his paintings were indistinguishable, and many ancient people did not appreciate his work of art. However, as years went by, people begun to see sense in everything he drew and started to buy his paintings. Artists too had begun reproducing them.

When in Paris, Van Gogh did a number of sunflower paintings. Most of them were live sunflowers in a vase, but others included dried and withered sunflowers. Whether wilted or live, his entire paintings have a distinct feature that only he knew what the secret was. They are unique, and any reproduction still cannot bring out the real theme in the original. This distinct feature saw his painting bought a record 40million in 1987 for The Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers painted in 1888, by a Japanese company. This act saw even more people beginning to get interested in his work. Nowadays, the few originals Van Gogh paintings are spread all over Europe and London resting in reputable art galleries and museums

Most of Van Gogh’s paintings revolved around the sunflower and even if he drew a portrait, he would insert some aspect of sunflowers in it, with either the background having the vase or some sunflowers lying ideally on the floor. Vincent had his own unique way of expression. The sunflower series by Van Gogh include; Paris Series, Vase with Five Sunflowers, Vase with Three Sunflowers, Vase with fifteen Sunflowers, and The Vase with Twelve Sunflowers. The painter did about 2000 works, with most of that being in major museums and art galleries. From the letters he sent to his brother, penetrating the ancient times with his work was difficult.
